Powered by two AA batteries (included), the alarm operates even during power failures, ensuring continuous protection. The device is equipped with self-testing components that continually monitor its functionality, ensuring it operates as expected.
The Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm utilizes photoelectric sensing technology to detect visible fire particles associated with smoldering fires, while an electrochemical sensor monitors for the presence of carbon monoxide. When either a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event is detected, the alarm responds with an 85-decibel audible warning and flashing red LEDs, alerting the occupants.
Three LED indicators provide status information: a green light indicates normal operation, an amber light signifies a fault or connection issue, and a red light warns of a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event. Additionally, when the alarm reaches the end of its lifespan, it will announce, "Replace Alarm!" to prompt the user to replace the device.
The Smart-Hush button allows the user to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 8 minutes, which can be useful when the alarm is triggered by routine activities like cooking or steam from showers. This feature helps prevent unnecessary disruptions while maintaining the alarm's safety functionality.
